Customisable Modules

Play The Bard presents a range of Shakespearean modules for Stage 4-6 English students, tailored to the specific text they’re studying. This lightweight package is the perfect incursion to shake up the classroom.

Our trainers will perform a satirical scene depicting a bullheaded Bill Shakespeare and his genius scribe as they attempt to pen another Elizabethan blockbuster. Through the jokes and colloquial language, the students can better connect not only with Shakespeare’s work, but also his world. From there, we’ll get the students on their feet and block through a short scene with them, exploring how Shakespeare’s writing might translate to the stage. The kids will be actors, directors and audience members, and experience first hand the crucial relationship between the text and the stagecraft.

Tommy and James provided an entertaining, educational and engaging performance they developed in consultation with the English staff. Their ability to adapt their performance at short notice to fit the school’s curriculum was particularly impressive. The kids had a great time and learnt a lot about Shakespeare and literature. We will definitely be including their workshops in our English curriculum in future units.
